Building Maintenance Staff
Our Vision
The Canadian Mental Health Association provides mental health education and mental illness recovery-focused programs and services for people of all ages and their families. We work collaboratively to develop realistic community awareness of homelessness and provide housing opportunities for clients. CMHA Kamloops creates awareness, provides education, and supports individuals and families living with mental health or substance use concerns. Our programs are community-based, they include supportive and independent living, homelessness services, and peer support. By working closely with other community agencies, we are working to bridge gaps in mental health care and facilitate access to critical services and resources.

The Role
The Building Maintenance Staff is responsible for performing general repairs and preventative maintenance within various CMHA Kamloops locations and equipment. This role also supports the Property Manager in upkeep and move in/out inspections of rent-geared-to-income housing. Building Maintenance Worker’s require the ability to perform physically demanding work while demonstrating a high level of professionalism and integrity in their interactions with clients and tenants living with mental health, substance use or other complexities.
Key Responsibilities
- Installation of appliances and/or equipment, includes performing ongoing preventative maintenance.
- Performing minor repairs and fixes such as, repairing broken locks, patching holes in walls, replacing lightbulbs, etc.
- Reporting maintenance, facility issues, and recommendations related to the building to the Program Manager.
- Maintain the exterior of buildings or procurement of contracts to have it completed in respects to building exteriors, property grounds, sidewalks and driveways, clearing snow, landscaping or any other work related to outdoor living spaces and property beautification.
- Conduct viewings, move ins and outs of rent-geared-to-income housing as directed by the Property Manager.
Key Skills and Experience Required
- 2 years of related experience;
- Related Degree or Diploma in trades or Building service worker certificate an asset;
- Mental Health First Aid an asset
- First Aid with CPR
- Own vehicle with Business Insurance (5 million 3 party liability coverage); kilometrage reimbursement provided.
- Class 5 Driver's License and clean drivers abstract.
