HSE Coordinator - Powerline Construction
Midlite Construction LP. is an equal opportunity employer and is actively seeking to fill a full-time position for a HSE Coordinator located in the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo. Midlite is a specialized Powerline Construction and Maintenance contractor. We serve Canada's largest energy companies in Alberta, the Yukon, the Northwest Territories, Saskatchewan, and British Columbia.
Responsibilities
- Safety Leadership: Promote a proactive HSE culture aligned with Midlite’s goals and the principle of internal responsibility.
- Compliance Monitoring: Ensure adherence to all applicable legislation, client requirements, and company policies.
- Incident Management: Participate in investigations, prepare reports, and support corrective actions.
- Training & Orientation: Support new hire orientations, deliver HSE training, and coordinate drug & alcohol testing.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate records, certifications, and prepare weekly/monthly HSE reports.
- Field Support: Assist with Safe Work Plans, JSAs, inspections, audits, and client HSE meetings.
- Administrative support for Project Controls and Quality Assurance – compiling data, generating reports and facilitating information to the client.
- Onboarding Coordination: Manage training requirements, site-specific documentation, and certification tracking.
- Manage material handling activities, including receiving and organizing incoming materials, collecting and processing packing slips, and submitting documentation to the appropriate departments for tracking and reconciliation.
- Escort and support third-party vendors on site, ensuring compliance with site access requirements, safety protocols, and operational procedures.
- Oversee subcontractor management and compliance, ensuring all subcontractors meet Midlite and client HSE management system requirements, maintain required documentation, and adhere to site-specific safety policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
- Continuous Improvement: Support development of safety programs and initiatives to enhance workplace safety.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in HSE or related field; NCSO designation mandatory (or equivalent)
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license with clean abstract.
- Strong knowledge of HSE legislation, standards, and best practices.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and HSE management systems.
- Excellent communication, presentation, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Physically able to perform all duties; willingness to travel to remote sites.
- Assets: ESC Fall Protection and First Aid Train-the-Trainer certifications. Electrical experience and environmental certification considered asset
