General Description
Elixive Formulabs Inc. is a Canadian private-label and contract manufacturer specializing in skincare, haircare and personal-care products. We support emerging and established brands through formulation development, product customization, regulatory support, scale-up and commercial manufacturing.
We are seeking an experienced and highly organized Cosmetic Formulation Chemist to lead formulation projects from concept and laboratory development through stability testing, production scale-up and final quality approval.
This is a hands-on position requiring strong cosmetic formulation knowledge, sound technical judgment and the ability to manage multiple client and internal development projects independently.
Key Responsibilities
Research and Development
- Develop new skincare, haircare and personal-care formulations.
- Customize existing formulations to meet client requirements.
- Prepare laboratory samples and small-batch stock samples.
- Manage product stability testing and documentation.
- Prepare technical client project proposals.
- Maintain accurate and organized R&D records.
Production and Quality Control
- Create production formulas, manufacturing instructions and quality specifications.
- Support the scale-up of formulations from the laboratory to full production.
- Supervise initial production batches and troubleshoot technical issues.
- Update production specifications based on validated manufacturing results.
Regulatory Documentation
- Prepare and submit Canadian Cosmetic Notification Forms.
- Prepare product ingredient lists and related technical documentation.
- Support general regulatory and technical inquiries.
Preferred Qualifications
- Three or more years of cosmetic formulation experience.
- Experience working for a cosmetic contract manufacturer or private-label laboratory.
- Familiarity with Health Canada cosmetic requirements and Cosmetic Notification Forms.
- Experience preparing SDS documents, COAs, ingredient directories and production batch records.
- Knowledge of cosmetic Good Manufacturing Practices, including ISO 22716 principles.
- Experience investigating out-of-specification results and troubleshooting production batches.
- Familiarity with Canadian and U.S. cosmetic regulations, would be considered an asset.
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8-9 AM start.
