Comtech is currently accepting applications for Communication Technicians. As a Communication Technician, you would be responsible for performing installation and servicing of telecommunications equipment, tower climbing, servicing, and construction at heights of up to 500 feet, antenna installations and alignment, radio and networking equipment installation, configuration and troubleshooting, installation and configuration of telecommunication hardware, and fiber termination and splicing.
Qualifications:
- Experience working on communication towers
- Experience in Telecommunications industry
- Experience in deploying and maintaining Internet of Things (IoT) devices and networks
- Pulling, terminating, and testing various data cables (e.g., Cat5e, Cat6, fiber optic) considered an asset
- Experience in installing and configuring telecom equipment in racks and cabinets
- Knowledge of RF theory and wireless communication technologies
- Capable of reading drawings, schematics, and technical documentation
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve hardware/software issues with IoT systems
- Familiar with network protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, Ethernet, Wi-Fi) and security best practices
- Experience with cable management and adherence to industry standards
- Willing to travel frequently for on-site installations and maintenance activities
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills for identifying and resolving technical issues
- Professional communication abilities for coordinating with project teams and clients
- Committed to continuing education and staying updated with emerging IoT technologies
- Microwave experience
- Post-secondary education in a technology related program
- Construction experience
- Valid Driver’ s License with a clean Driver’s Abstract
Physical Demands:
- Able to lift and carry up to 100lbs without assistance through a work shift
- Able to safely push or pull up to 150lbs without assistance using proper equipment
- Ability to safely climb to heights up to 500 feet
- Ability to work at heights for extended periods of time in all types of weather
- Ability to safely and properly operate motor vehicles up to ¾ ton pickup
