Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Inventory Control Associate to join our fastener distribution team. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate inventory records, monitoring stock levels, conducting cycle counts, and ensuring fasteners and related products are stored and tracked correctly. This role works closely with receiving, shipping, purchasing, and warehouse operations to maintain inventory accuracy and support customer orders. Inventory control associates typically maintain inventory records, investigate discrepancies, perform cycle counts, and support warehouse operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate inventory records using the Warehouse Management System (WMS) or ERP system.
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly cycle counts.
- Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies.
- Receive, inspect, and verify incoming fastener shipments.
- Ensure products are properly labelled, stored, and organized by part number, size, and lot.
- Process inventory transactions, transfers, and adjustments accurately.
- Assist with annual physical inventory counts.
- Support shipping and receiving activities as required.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse environment.
- Follow all company health and safety procedures.
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment safely (certification preferred).
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1–3 years of inventory control or warehouse experience, preferably in industrial products or fasteners.
- Experience using inventory management software or ERP systems.
- Strong Microsoft Excel and computer skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to identify part numbers, product specifications, and inventory discrepancies.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
- Forklift certification is required.
Preferred Experience
- Knowledge of industrial fasteners, hardware, or construction supplies.
- Experience with barcode scanners and RF devices.
- Experience with cycle counting and inventory reconciliation.
- Understanding of FIFO inventory practices.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs (23 kg).
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach throughout the shift.
- Comfortable working in a warehouse environment.
- Ability to operate material handling equipment safely.
