Cass & Bishop Professional Corporation is seeking to fill the integral position of Assistant to the Finance Manager. The department supervisor and Manager is long tenured, working for the firm for 15 years. Working under the close supervision of the Finance Manager, you will have the opportunity to work with a highly experienced, kind, conscientious, hard-working, intelligent, and thorough legal-finance professional. You will also be in the company of a diverse group of legal professionals from various experiential, ethnic, and cultural backgrounds. Previous legal finance experience is a requirement for this position (i.e., experience working as a finance assistant, finance manager, “bookkeeper” or “bookkeeper’s assistant” for a law practice is a prerequisite for applying for this job). In addition to a cover letter, please prepare to provide a “Criminal Record Check” (Clearance Letter), as this position is related to banking.

Detailed Job Description:
Daily Tasks
- Reconciling, posting, and transferring credit card receipts for client retainers
- Reconciling E-Reg Land Transfer Tax with the bank
- Posting land transfer tax and trust transfers
- Transferring funds from trust to unbilled disbursements
- Printing, approving, posting, and transferring corporate funds from trust account to pay accounts receivable
- Posting corporate department cash disbursements
- Printing Teraview worksheets and posting to client accounts
Bi-Weekly Tasks
- Producing Time Docketing, Accounts Receivable, and Miscellaneous reports in ESI Law
- Providing ESI reports to staff
Monthly Tasks
- Posting disbursements for: Software fees, Cash disbursements for real estate accounts, Levy
- Reconciling and posting, real estate, wills, estates, and matrimonial billings and transferring from Trust to pay Accounts Receivable
- Reconciling Trust account
Quarterly Tasks
- Reconciling and remitting the Levy Surcharge payment to Law Society of Ontario
“When Needed” Tasks
- Assisting the Finance Department Manager with real estate closings
- Assisting the Finance Manager with credit card reconciliations
Work Remotely
