Job Summary
Aylmer Glass is looking for an experienced, detail-oriented Window, Door & Glass Service Technician / Installer to join our team. In this versatile role, you will handle full-scope residential and light commercial installations, glass servicing, thermal unit replacements, and custom shop work.
The ideal candidate possesses strong mechanical aptitude, precise measuring skills, and hands-on experience handling flat glass, sealed units, windows, doors, and hardware.
Duties
Field Work & Installation
- Window & Door Installation: Install residential and commercial windows, exterior doors, and patio door systems ensuring proper flashing, sealing, plumb, level, and square alignment.
Shop Operations & Fabrication
- Glass & Mirror Cutting: Accurately measure, score, cut, and finish annealed glass and mirrors to precise specifications for custom fit applications.
- Screen Work: Build new window/door screens and re-screen existing frames using fiberglass and aluminum mesh.
- Patio Door Assembly: Assemble, tune, and test sliding patio door frames and hardware prior to or during installation.
- Thermal Glass Replacement: Inspect, measure, remove, and replace failed or broken Insulating Glass Units (IGUs) in existing window and door frames.
- Site Management: Maintain clean and safe job sites, respect client property, and communicate professionally with home and business owners.
- Service & Repairs: Diagnose and repair window and door operation issues, including hardware replacements (cranks, hinges, locks, operators, weatherstripping, and balance adjustments).
Qualifications & Skills
- Experience: 2+ years of experience in glazier work, window/door installation, or residential trim carpentry/servicing.
- Glass Handling: Demonstrated experience hand-cutting annealed flat glass/mirror safely and handling sealed glass units up to heavy weights.
- Tools & Equipment: Proficient with hand tools, power tools, glass cutters, suction lifters, caulking guns, and level devices.
- Attention to Detail: Precision measuring skills (down to 1/16) and a commitment to clean, high-quality finishes and sealants.
- Licensing: Valid Driver’s License with a clean driving record (company service vehicle provided during work hours).
Pay: $22.00-$30.00 per hour
