Overview
OM&R 407 East Development Group GP is looking for dependable and safety-focused DZ Snow Plow Operators to join our winter maintenance team. Our operators play an important role in keeping Highway 407, and Highway 412 safe and operational throughout the winter season. This position involves operating combination snow plow units during winter events and responding to changing weather and road conditions. In addition to $28.50 per hour for hours worked, operators will receive $600 per week in standby pay while assigned to the winter standby rotation.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate combination snow plow and winter maintenance equipment
- Participate in required training
- Perform snow removal and salt application in accordance with established routes and maintenance requirements
- Respond to winter call-ins and report for duty within required response times
- Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections
- Maintain accurate documentation, including hours of service, fuel and operational reports
- Perform minor equipment maintenance as required
- Follow all company safety procedures, MTO requirements and applicable legislation
- Ability to work extended hours during significant winter weather events, including 12-hour rotating shifts, while maintaining compliance with all applicable Hours-of-Service requirements
Qualifications
- Valid Ontario DZ licence; AZ licence also accepted
- Clean driver’s abstract and acceptable CVOR
- Experience operating heavy trucks or snow plow equipment is considered an asset
- Ability to safely operate in snow, ice and challenging winter conditions
- Available for 24/7 including days, nights, weekends and holidays as winter events require
- Reliable transportation and ability to meet required call-in times
- Strong safety awareness and ability to work independently
- Experience with loaders and other heavy equipment considered an asset
- Knowledge of winter maintenance operations and MTO standards considered an asset
Compensation: $28.50/hour for hours worked PLUS $600/week standby pay
