As a Human Resources Generalist you will play a crucial role to support our most important asset – our employees! Working across the Ayr Welding Group of Companies, you will coordinate and support various HR and safety related tasks. Responsibilities include recruitment, onboarding, benefits, RRSP/pension, and HR administration.
Key Responsibilities:
Human Resources:
- Provide recruitment tasks including: job postings, screening applicants, scheduling and conducting interviews, guide salary negotiations, conduct reference and background checks, preparing offer letters and employee agreements
- Conduct onboarding of new team members by coordinating and leading orientations for new employees within each organization
- Perform offboarding tasks including exit interviews
- Create and maintain accurate employee records
- Coordinate and maintain Group Benefits, including health & RRSP/pension programs and policies
- Coordinate and maintain HR materials, databases, policies, etc.
- Support Human Resources Manager with administrative tasks
- Prepare and maintain job descriptions
- Provide support to workers concerning the use of HR, Safety, attendance and scheduling applications
- Create and maintain employee records and ensure accuracy and confidentiality.
- Ensure compliance with laws and regulations, as well as company policy, and procedures.
- Promote a team environment.
- First point of contact for workers
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Implements employee recognition programs.
- Event planning and set up.
Health & Safety:
- Review, track and document safety training and paperwork
- Enroll workers in correct in-house or third-party safety training
- Coordinate and/or create relevant toolbox talks
- Obtain and distribute Certificate of Insurance and Clearance Certificates
- Create training certificates and maintain training matrix
- Ensure safety policies and forms are followed, information is collected and recorded
- Assist in the maintenance of health and safety programs and policies in compliance with appropriate regulations.
- Maintain records of safety-related incidents, inspections, and training.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or College Diploma in Human Resources or a related field.
- Minimum of 2+ years of experience as a Human Resource Generalist and Health and Safety Roles, preferably in a construction or industrial/manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of Site Docs and Workforce Now is an asset.
- Strong understanding of HR principles, ESA, OHSA, and regulations.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
- Capable of working independently with a proactive mindset
- Strong problem solving, mediation and resolution skills.
- Ability to interpret and implement company policies and procedures
- Able to build relationships with internal departments and external stakeholders
- Proven ability to effectively work in a team environment
- Intermediate computer skills using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, OneDrive, and PowerPoint programs)
- Strong attention to detail and organization skills
- Ability to handle multiple projects and priorities in a professional and timely manner
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral, with excellent ‘soft skills’
Working Conditions:
- Work is performed in both office and manufacturing settings, with exposure to various environmental conditions.
- Occasional travel to other company locations may be required.

This is a full- time permanent position at our M&G Millwright location. Hours of work consist of 39 hours/week. Pay is based on experience and ability. The pay range is $32-37/hour.
