Forklift Operator – Temporary to Permanent
About Our Client
Located in Mississauga, our client is a large manufacturer of plastics & film. They are looking for experienced forklift operators to add to their team. This is a very unique environment, with very close corners, high racking, large items etc. This position is a rotating day/night shift – monthly continental (12 hour shifts). Please make sure you are experienced and comfortable with that schedule before applying.
What You’ll Be Doing as a Forklift Operator:
- Operate a DOUBLE REACH and COUNTERBALANCE forklift (and be licensed for both)
- Operate the forklift for 80% of your shift and the other 10% of the day, doing labourer duties
- Ensures that policies and procedures regarding workplace safety (e.g., forklift safety, securing trailers while loading/unloading, etc.), environmental protection and optimal use of resources are strictly adhered to at all times, and that shipping staff perform their work in a safe manner.
- Obtains daily work instructions and documents (e.g., pick notes) from the Shipping Manager
- Performs safe and accurate loading of orders for shipments, and unloading of receivables
- Performs general physical activities to load, unload, sort and move shipments by hand or using material handling equipment
- Packs, seals, and labels materials to prepare for shipping
- Puts away received materials and finished production materials in the correct location
- Moves goods into and out of warehouses
- Performs daily required safety checks on material handling equipment (e.g., forklift)
- Completes daily shipping/receiving logs and activity reports, and any other required documentation
- Reports any damages, inventory deviations, etc.
· Other duties as required
What You’ll Need to Succeed as a Forklift Operator:
· Minimum 3 years of experience in a forklift position with Electric DOUBLE REACH & COUNTERBALANCE (BOTH ARE MANDATORY)
· Experience working in a very small production facility with high/deep racking is highly preferred.
· Experience and willingness to move very heavy/bulky items.
· Strong attention to detail
· Able to lift up to 30 lbs when needed
· Comfortable following verbal and written instructions in English
· Must wear CSA-approved safety footwear and other safety gear (ear plugs, glasses)
· Strong communication skills and a positive attitude
In Return, You Will Receive:
· $20.00 per hour + 4% vacation pay (accrued and paid out upon request)
· Full-time hourswith the opportunity for long-term placement for the right candidate
· Ongoing support from a dedicated Vertical Staffing Representative (Mon–Fri, 8am–5pm)
The Shift You Will be Working is:
· You will rotate between days and nights – monthly.
· 4 days one week & 3 days next week etc.
· This will require weekends
· Day shifts are: 7am to 7pm
· Night shifts are: 7pm to 7am
