Role: Jr. IT Support Specialist
Location: Burnaby or Calgary
Salary Range: $53,000 - $63,000
The Role:
The Jr. IT Support Specialist provides frontline technical support and exceptional customer service to employees across the organization. This role helps ensure the stability, security, and efficient operation of the company's technology environment by supporting hardware, software, mobile devices, telephony, and web platforms.
As the first point of contact for IT requests, the Jr. IT Support Specialist is responsible for troubleshooting issues, managing tickets, maintaining IT assets, creating documentation, and promoting security best practices. Complex infrastructure and cybersecurity issues are escalated to the Systems & Support Specialist & IT Support or IT Manager as appropriate. Success in this role requires
YOUR core responsibilities:
Frontline Help Desk & End-User Support:
Provide first-level IT support for employees across offices, warehouses, and remote locations.
Troubleshoot hardware, software, mobile devices, printers, scanners, and connectivity issues.
Assist users with technology questions, training, and best practices.
User Lifecycle & Access Management:
Support employee onboarding and offboarding, including account setup, device deployment, and access management.
Administer user accounts, passwords, permissions, and Microsoft 365 services.
Assist with multi-factor authentication (MFA) and access-related requests.
Ensure access changes follow company security policies and standards.
Hardware Provisioning & Asset Management:
Configure, deploy, and support computers, mobile devices (iOS and Android), and peripherals.
Maintain IT asset inventory and lifecycle records.
Coordinate device replacements, upgrades, repairs, and warranty claims.
Ensure equipment is available to support business operations and employee onboarding.
Basic Infrastructure & Event Support:
Assist with the setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting of basic IT infrastructure, including workstations, printers, AV equipment, and network-connected devices.
Provide technical support for company meetings, training sessions, and events, ensuring audio-visual and conferencing systems function properly.
Documentation & Security Compliance:
Create and maintain IT documentation and knowledge base articles.
Follow and promote IT security policies, procedures, and best practices.
Assist with software licensing, asset compliance, and process documentation.
What YOU BRING to Watson Gloves:
Experience: 0–2 years of experience in an IT Help Desk, Technical Customer Service, or academic IT environment.
Operating Systems: Solid baseline familiarity with navigating and configuring Windows 11 and macOS desktop interfaces.
Fundamental understanding of cloud productivity suites (e.g., Microsoft 365), web browsers, and core office applications.
General conceptual understanding of how computers connect to local Wi-Fi, ethernet, home routers, and VPNs.
Exceptional empathy, patience, and clear communication skills when handling frustrated users who face technical disruptions.
Highly coachable mindset, showing enthusiasm for taking daily direction and absorbing technical mentorship from senior members.
Disciplined approach to updating ticket notes accurately, maintaining asset inventories, and following step-by-step technical documentation cleanly.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Strong problem-solving abilities with an analytical mindset.
Ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical users.
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks efficiently.
