Doodle All Daycare is a brand-new childcare center located in the downtown area. We use a play-based, emergent approach to learning, inspired by children’s curiosity and creativity. We provide nurturing care for infant, toddler, and preschool age groups in a warm and inclusive environment.
About the Role
The Kitchen Assistant / Float Staff plays a dual role in supporting the daily operations of our childcare center. This position involves maintaining a clean, organized kitchen and assisting with meal service for catered food, while also providing classroom support as needed throughout the day.
Responsibilities
Kitchen Duties:
- Receive and organize catered meals for all classrooms.
- Distribute meals and snacks to classrooms according to dietary and allergy requirements.
- Maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized kitchen area, including counters, sinks, dishes, and food storage spaces.
- Adhere to all food safety and public health guidelines.
- Monitor inventory of kitchen supplies and communicate restocking needs to the Director.
- Support allergy management and ensure all food items are properly labeled and handled safely.
Float Staff Duties:
- Provide classroom coverage and assistance during staff breaks/end of day
- Support educators in maintaining a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for children.
- Assist with transitions, outdoor play supervision, and classroom setup or cleanup.
- Model positive interactions and help reinforce center routines and expectations.
- Be flexible and responsive to the needs of different age groups and classrooms.
Qualifications
- Valid Food Handler’s Certification (required).
- Experience working in a childcare, food service, or related environment (asset).
- CPR and First Aid certification
- Willingness to undergo a Criminal Record Check and Medical Check.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a team and communicate effectively.
- Reliable, flexible, and enjoys working in a busy, dynamic childcare environment.
