Freight North Carriers is seeking an experienced and highly organized Dispatcher to join our operations team. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in flat deck transportation, excellent communication skills, and a passion for keeping freight moving safely and efficiently.
Heavy haul experience is considered a strong asset, as our team manages a diverse fleet serving customers throughout Canada and the United States. The successful candidate will work closely with drivers, customers, dispatch staff, and our maintenance department to ensure exceptional service, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence.
What You'll Do
- Coordinate and dispatch trucks, trailers, and drivers efficiently and effectively
- Plan and optimize routes to maximize productivity and customer satisfaction
- Manage fleet availability, equipment utilization, and driver schedules
- Work closely with the Maintenance Department to schedule repairs, inspections, and preventative maintenance
- Monitor and support driver compliance with company policies, safety standards, and transportation regulations
- Review and verify trip paperwork, driver documentation, permits, and load information
- Communicate proactively with drivers, customers, brokers, and internal departments
- Resolve operational challenges quickly and professionally
- Assist with load planning, freight coordination, and capacity management
- Maintain accurate records and dispatch information within company systems
Qualifications
Required:
- Previous transportation dispatch experience
- Flat deck dispatch experience
- Strong computer and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and customer service abilities
- Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced environment
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Self-motivated with a positive, team-oriented attitude

- Border crossing and customs knowledge
- Over-dimensional load permitting experience
- Experience with AXON transportation software
- Knowledge of Canadian and U.S. transportation regulations
- Project freight or specialized transportation experience
