Summary of position:
As Operations Manager, you are responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the company to ensure efficiency, productivity, and profitability. This role requires the management of both people and processes, aiming to improve company performance and meet operational goals. The Operations Manager will ensure all activities are aligned with the strategic objectives of the business and will work closely with cross-functional teams.
The ideal candidate should have experience in operations management, strong leadership and communication skills, problem-solving ability, flexibility, organizational skills, a commitment to safety, and excellent customer service skills. The candidate will need to motivate and manage a team of workers in a fast-paced and challenging environment.

Work can be physically demanding, with long hours and exposure to harsh weather conditions, but it is also rewarding and you’ll get to be part of a great team.
Supervising and Reporting: Reporting to the COO involves regular and frequent communication regarding personnel, equipment and inventory. Providing timely and necessary feedback and training to employees to ensure they are performing their job duties effectively. Participate in strategic planning meetings to discuss short-term and long-term goals and objectives for the company.

Commercial Operations - Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide strong leadership and coordinate the activities of the commercial snow management team, including communication with crew leads, sander truck drivers, snow clearing and de-icing teams.
- Monitor weather conditions; this includes assessing the severity of the storm, tracking changes in temperature and precipitation, and adjusting equipment and personnel deployment as needed.
- Ensure that snow-removal operations are carried out efficiently, safely and adhere the clearing schedules.
- Maintain and control accurate records of services rendered per job site, personnel, timesheets, equipment usage and maintenance. This includes keeping detailed records of the time worked by operators, subcontractors, and the snow crews. Ensure that all timesheets are accurate, complete, and submitted on time for payroll processing. These records will also be essential for tracking employee performance.
- Responsible for enforcing safety protocols for equipment operators and snow crews, through regular safety training sessions, toolbox meetings and ensuring that all equipment is in good working condition.
- Provide high degree of customer service to clients, including responding promptly to inquiries and complaints, and ensuring that work is completed to the client's satisfaction.
- Equipment operation and maintenance, as needed. Operate snow-removal and de-icing equipment to clear snow and ice from laneways, sidewalks, parking lots. Perform and manage routine maintenance on the equipment and vehicles.
Landscape Centres - Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage and oversee daily operations of all retain landscape centres.
- Responsible for operational scheduling of personnel, equipment and vehicles.
- Recommend new processes and share best practices for improving processes and procedures to improve corporate performance.
- Ensure compliance of procedures that are in place and all safety procedures are followed to avoid any accidents or incidents. Safety is to be made a priority and communicated so the team is abiding by all Health and Safety regulations.
- Ensure that new employees are trained and oriented appropriately for their new positions and perform follow-up sessions to ensure proper fit within the company.
- Monitor departmental performance against goals to ensure that progress is being made, and that corrective action is taken if necessary.
- Meet regularly with retail site manager to ensure operations are aligned with site objectives.
- Analyze and report on the daily, monthly and annually department's key performance indicators to leadership team.
- Develop and implement strategies around improving the financial performance of the department.
- Perform other duties as required.
Requirements/Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of demonstrated ability to manage teams and supervise employees, in a similar industry. Knowledge in landscaping, maintenance, snow, and/or construction required.
- Must be comfortable with computers, software, mobile applications.
- Effective leadership skills, with a strong focus on operations and business processes.
- Good understanding of snow-removal equipment, techniques, and safety protocols.
- Physically fit and able to work in a demanding and strenuous environment.
- Flexible and able to work long hours, including nights and weekends, as required
- Able to identify key issues; creatively and strategically overcome internal challenges or obstacles.
- Effectively time management of team to ensure that work is completed per schedule
- Strong commitment to safety and be able to ensure that all employees follow proper safety protocols and procedures.
- Valid driver's license and clean drivers abstract, class 3 is an asset
- Maintains a high level of integrity, confidentially, and accountability.
- Maintains a well-defined sense of diplomacy, including solid negotiation, conflict resolution, and people management skills.
