Role Overview:
The HR & Payroll Generalist will play a key role in supporting payroll, HR operations, and employee experience initiatives across North America. This role requires strong attention to detail, a hands-on approach, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
This role will be based in Toronto head office in a hybrid work arrangement
Key Responsibilities:
Payroll & Benefits Support
- Support end-to-end payroll support activities for Canadian and U.S. employee groups, including payroll inputs, data validation, coordination with external payroll providers to ensure accurate and timely processing
- Review and validate payroll data (e.g., new hires, terminations, compensation changes, bonuses, deductions) for accuracy and completeness
- Assist with year-end payroll activities, including T4 (Canada) and W-2 (U.S.) preparation and reconciliation
- Review and process benefits invoices; resolve any discrepancies with vendors
- Administer employee benefits programs, including enrollments, changes, terminations, and responding to employee inquiries
- Identify opportunities to improve processes, documentation and overall employee experience
- Ensure payroll practices comply with federal, provincial/state, and local regulations, including remittances, filings, and record retention
HR Operations & Administration
- Support performance management process (goal setting, review cycles, documentation)
- Assist with talent acquisition activities, including job postings, interview coordination, offer preparation.
- Coordinate onboarding and offboarding processes to ensure smooth employee experience
- Support learning and development initiatives
- Maintain HR documentation, policies, and internal communications.
- Support with HR projects and process improvements as needed
- Support in audits by maintaining up-to-date documentation and audit trails.
- Provide first-level support on employee relations matters, including policy interpretation, issue resolution, and escalation, as needed
Employee Engagement & Workplace Experience (30%)
- Support the planning and execution of employee engagement initiatives, wellness programs and social events
- Assist with internal communications related to HR initiatives
- Coordinate Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC) meetings and maintain documentation
- Provide backup support for office administration and assist with basic office operations
- Other HR responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
- Minimum 3 years of experience in an HR coordinator or generalist role
- Experience with Canadian and/or U.S. payroll is a strong asset
- Experience with HRIS and/or payroll systems preferred
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Hands-on, proactive mindset with a passion for improving processes
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion

Salary Range: CAD 70,000 – CAD 85,000 annual
