As our Assistant Engineering Manager, you'll have the opportunity to shape the future of our Engineering team while playing a pivotal role in delivering exceptional custom millwork projects. Key Responsibilities
- Plan and execute department structuring to allow for growth
- Develop KPI’s to measure for performance and monitoring KPI’s (Internal mistakes, budgeted hours, workflow) and roll out
- Onboarding and training of new hires
- Periodic performance reviews of the team
- For all AWMAC and AWI projects, ensure adherence to standards, create submittal packages and communicating directly with the chapters to resolve any non- compliance issues that might arise
- Monitor and close engineering RFI’s
- Technical troubleshooting – provide conflict resolution between internal production and project team
- Coordinate efforts between internal departments to resolve issues, streamline processes and enhance productivity
- Monitor and ensuring overall quality control of Engineering
- Working with CIM to review PSF overall goals
- Conduct daily team meetings to align priorities and address challenges
- Assign scheduled work and manage department workloads
- Conduct performance reviews and provide ongoing constructive coaching and feedback
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and professional development initiatives
- Foster an inclusive, positive work environment that promotes high morale and teamwork
- Possess technical & operational excellence
- Able to advise team members in order to produce complete shop and production drawing packages in AutoCAD/ Microvellum, including Material take-offs, cut-lists, Custom part details, 3D models and AutoCAD/Microvellum layout setup
- Review drawings for accuracy, constructability, and production readiness
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues that arise during various stages of production
- Collaborate closely with others, including Leadership, Project Managers and Department Managers to ensure smooth project execution
- Plan, strategize, and adjust schedules to meet operational and business demands
Required Qualifications
- Proficiency in AutoCAD (millwork drafting required),
- Microvellum software experience is a huge asset, but not mandatory
- Strong technical understanding of cabinetry structures and millwork build processes
- Proven problem-solving skills with a practical, solution-focused mindset
- Excellent communication, organizational, and time-management skills
- Ability to train, mentor, and motivate team members
Experience & Skills
- 5+ years’ experience in the millwork industry
- 5+ years AutoCAD design and drafting experience
- Leadership or management experience
