Position Summary:
The Seasonal Heavy Truck Operator works as part of the Waste Transfer Site Team and is responsible for operating class 8 tandem hook-lift trucks in a safe and effective manner in the transport of recycling and waste materials from County waste transfer stations to the designated processor.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operation of class 8 tandem hook-lift trucks transporting roll-off bins.
- Deliver empty bins to the waste transfer site locations and transport full bins to the designated processor.
- Perform all daily safety and maintenance checks and conduct general care and maintenance of equipment.
- Report any dangerous or unsafe conditions to the Waste Transfer Site Coordinator.
- Ensure adherence to all applicable Wheatland County policies and bylaws.
- Ensure compliance with OH&S including attendance at safety meetings, being properly trained in OH&S related topics, and ensuring work is completed in a safe manner.
- Appropriately, and in a timely manner complete administrative tasks when required.
- Relate to and communicate with co-workers, management, customers, and vendors sincerely, clearly, tactfully, promptly, and courteously; respond to inquiries and complaints promptly and professionally.
- Perform tasks, consistent with the position, including special projects / assignments, as may be required on an ad hoc basis.
Qualifications:
- Valid Class 3 or Class 1 Alberta drivers’ licence
- 3 years’ experience driving similar vehicles and hauling similar commodities
- Experience working with various heavy equipment is considered an asset
- Ability to work alone and work cooperatively in a team environment
Working Conditions:
· (Approximately) April – November (Summer Season) – Monday to Friday; 50 regular hours/week;
· Overtime may be required
Pay: $31.64-$38.90 per hour
