Job Summary
Malton Veterinary Services & Cawthorpe Veterinary Services is under recently under new ownership and seeking to find a dedicated and compassionate team member to join our close and tight knitted, rebranded team!
In this role, you will provide support to veterinarians in the care and treatment of animals. You will be responsible for assisting with various medical procedures, performing laboratory tests, and ensuring the well-being of our patients. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for animal care and a commitment to providing high-quality veterinary services. The position involves assisting in all aspects of the veterinary practice (veterinary technician, front desk work, client communication, pet handling during appoints and surgical procedures, etc)
We are a paperless clinic with digital x-rays, digital dental x-rays, ultrasound, tonometry, in house laboratory and other bells and whistles. We are located in Mississauga and serving since more than 40 years and have established long term clientele.
Experience with working in veterinary software, especially AVIMARK is an asset. If hired, candidate will be getting paid training before working independently. (We are always happy to help even when official training is over)
Duties
- Communicate in a compassionate and professional manner with clients and fellow veterinary care team members using efficient oral and written communication skills
- Assist veterinarians during examinations and surgical procedures.
- Administer and monitor anesthesia and analgesia in accordance with the veterinary scope of practice and provincial laws governing the RVT profession
- Perform laboratory tests - primarily blood work
- Monitor animal patients pre- and post-operatively to ensure their recovery.
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation for each patient.
- Educate pet owners on proper animal care, nutrition, and preventive health measures.
- Ensure cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including sterilization of instruments.
- Assist in the handling and restraint of animals during examinations and treatments.
- Reception work
- Maintain and support a collaborative work environment and assist other staff members as required
- Maintain an appropriate inventory of all medical supplies as determined by veterinary office inventory control procedure
Skills
- Proficiency in laboratory procedures related to veterinary medicine.
- Strong communication skills to effectively interact with pet owners and team members.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Compassionate approach towards animal care with a strong sense of empathy.
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology and medical procedures is preferred.
- Excellent organizational skills to manage multiple tasks efficiently.

Pay: $18.00-$25.00 per hour
