The Opportunity
As an Analyst you will work to build and enhance our analytical solution and leverage it to interact directly with clients and help answer some of the hardest questions facing industry and investors today. You will report directly to the Director, Power Markets supporting our analytical approach, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and engaging with a variety of subject matter experts and perspectives. What You’ll Do

You will primarily focus on the outlook for electricity demand through data collection and forecasting of loads from demand centers, bitcoin mining, and electric vehicles etc.

You will contribute to the development of our long-term fundamental power market and price forecast for North America using advanced linear programming optimization models.

You will leverage complex analytical models (including SCED models) to simulate power markets to forecast hourly power market prices.

You will build and maintain large datasets of power market information including but not limited to power plants, demand, transmission, environmental policy, ownership, and M&A.

You will develop tools and models to streamline the collection, management and reporting process for large datasets and power market modeling results.

You will work closely with our clients to create customized solutions to their most pressing and complex problems.

You will participate in conference calls, virtual and in-person meetings with clients and prospects, leveraging and demonstrating our solutions.
Who You Are
-
0-3 years of relevant work experience, including previous internships or co-op terms.

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/ Economics/ Mathematics/ Computer Science/ Finance.

Experience or demonstrable passion in renewable projects, power markets and the energy transition.

Strong programming, database and software skills (Excel, SQL, Python, VBA, Spotfire, Tableau, etc.).

Strong analytical ability including statistical methods, linear programming and optimization concepts.

Experience and or familiarity with the North American wholesale power markets and power market modeling and forecasting is considered an asset.

You have the ability to work in a team setting with others from varying disciplines.

Excellent written and communication skills with an ability to explain complex problems.

You have strong attention to detail and are comfortable working with large data sets.
