Our client, a Canadian financial services and wealth management organization, is hiring a Business Systems Analyst to strengthen the connection between its business and technology teams as it continues to modernize and scale its systems.
You'll act as the bridge between business and technology: turning requirements into clear specifications, using SQL and reporting tools to make sense of data, and helping ensure systems stay stable, scalable, and performing as expected across APIs and integrations. You'll work closely with stakeholders, QA, and cross-functional delivery teams, owning the analysis and documentation that keep complex projects moving — including hands-on documentation of data integration work. This is a role for someone who's comfortable operating independently, managing competing priorities, and driving clarity in a complex environment.
This is a 6-month contract with strong potential for renewal. The engagement is fully remote within Canada, and only candidates currently residing in Canada will be considered.
Responsibilities:
- Work with stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into technical specifications and user stories.
- Run workshops and stakeholder interviews to elicit, clarify, and validate requirements.
- Analyze data using SQL to investigate questions, validate assumptions, and support decisions.
- Build and maintain dashboards and reports, and monitor key metrics, APIs, and SLAs.
- Support API integrations, data migrations, and system changes, including documenting data integration projects end to end.
- Produce core artifacts such as process maps, data flows, specifications, and test plans.
- Coordinate timelines across teams and keep delivery aligned.
- Partner with QA on test strategy and execution, and support UAT, training, and end-user documentation.
- Help maintain data governance, compliance, and operational standards.
Mandatory Requirements:
- 5+ years of relevant experience in the investment or financial services industry, ideally across front, middle, or back-office systems.
- Hands-on experience with Dataphile.
- Proven experience in business analysis, stakeholder management, and process modelling.
- Proficiency in writing use cases, user stories, and business process flows.
- Strong SQL skills, including querying, performance tuning, and stored procedure development.
- Experience with reporting/visualization tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Qlik.
- Practical knowledge of importing and shaping data for use in reports, spreadsheets, graphs, and charts.
- Experience with system specification development, including functional and non-functional requirements.
- Demonstrated experience supporting the design, development, and implementation of software systems in a complex environment.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and documentation skills, with solid written and verbal communication.
- Comfortable working independently, managing priorities, and collaborating with cross-functional teams in a remote environment.
