Job Description
General Accounting Clerk
The role will be primarily responsible for ensuring that all payables are appropriately handled and paid on a timely basis. The successful candidate will be part of a 3 to 4 member team that must work together in delivering and providing service to a number of stakeholders. The ability to assess requirements and set priorities as they arise is an important skill the candidate must possess. Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
- Receives and processes all vendor invoices according to terms
- Prepares and reports on net retail taxes payable
- Ensures that client file disbursements are appropriately handled
- Reviews and reconciles transactions charged to the Firm’s credit card accounts
- Responds to requests for information or confirmation
- Ensures various reports are generated and distributed on a timely basis
- Assists with the preparation of all month-end / year-end account reconciliations and statements
- Other duties as assigned or necessary
Qualifications
- A minimum of 1 to 2 years of relevant experience within a busy accounting office environment
- Completion of a business/accounting certificate program
- Superior ability to communicate with lawyers, staff, clients and vendors when making or responding to queries
- Previous hands on experience with business accounting software and MS Office
