This is a key leadership position within the Canadian P&BB Technology PMO. This role will oversee the execution of all project / program work within the Channels Technology portfolio including strategic roadmaps supporting Digital, Branch, Contact Centre and ATM. The Portfolio Director will lead a team of Program Managers, Sr. Project Managers and PCOs to ensure on-time, on-budget, high quality delivery of projects / programs and to the satisfaction of project sponsors. This role will provide strong portfolio oversight while proactively reporting key delivery trends (e.g. status, financials, emerging risks, etc.) and strategic insights back to leadership. The Portfolio Director must be able to roll up their sleeves and dive deep to understand the details of the work but also connect the dots back to the overarching technology objectives and business strategy. The Portfolio Director will collaborate and partner with leaders across other functions to identify and remove delivery roadblocks. The Portfolio Director also plays a key role in growing the PMO practice by instituting best practices, focused talent management efforts, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

Designs and produces regular and ad-hoc reports, and dashboards.
Manages overall portfolio budget. Ensures overall portfolio spend is managed within approved annual and multi-year budget allocations. Manages contingency funding in support of risk mitigation plans. Manages/validates financial forecasts and conducts ongoing reconciliation.
Manages all aspects of the project lifecycle, including business, operational and technology deliverables. Ensures all project processes are completed.
Executes project requirements in governance frameworks focused on risk appetite, regulatory and compliance standards.
Develops all related project management artifacts, while complying with applicable enterprise standards
Monitors and controls project deliverables. Makes recommendations and adjustments to the overall project plan to achieve deliverables,
Understands project interdependencies and demonstrates critical thinking that proactively identifies project risks and establishes effective risk mitigation from the outset.
Demonstrates stakeholder partnership that involves effective communicating with the project sponsor; gains and builds trust and rapport.
Demonstrates ownership and commitment by holding themselves accountable for the identification and resolution of project problems.
Identifies emerging issues and trends to inform decision-making. Responds by implementing appropriate changes.
Leads and/or represents the project in project team meetings, governance forums and inter-department forums.
Fosters strong internal and external networks and works with and across multiple teams to achieve business objectives.
10+ years of relevant experience in technology project delivery and technology leadership. Ideally, experience and knowledge in financial services and channels technology (e.g. business processes, applications, architecture, delivery etc.)
Valid PMP designation from the Project Management Institute (PMI) is an asset.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with experience presenting to various levels of the organization; ability to synthesize and write well structured materials (e.g. decks, reports, e-mails). This also includes the ability to communicate technical concepts (e.g. strategies, issues, etc.) with non-technical stakeholders.
Strategic mindset and critical thinking capabilities: ability to unpack complex problems and apply structure problem solving techniques to generate solutions
Strong stakeholder management skills; ability to balance conflicting demands and constraints of stakeholders (e.g. competing priorities, aggressive timelines)
Experience with SCRUM/Agile methodologies in enterprise level application development projects
Learning agility – Expert.
Able to manage project and business risks, including project and program interdependencies.
Able to resolve project issues effectively.
Able to manage ambiguity.
