The Senior Estimator’s primary function is to assist the Senior Estimating Manager in the management of tenders, contracts, purchase orders, budgets and other duties relating to the estimating department.

Duties and responsibilities

Review preliminary construction drawings to identify potential efficiencies.
- Prequalify trades and suppliers to ensure competency.
- Build and manage the trade lists for each project, ensuring at least 2 qualified trades/suppliers per scope of work.
- Creation of bid packages:
- Perform quantity takeoffs, as required (i.e. Concrete supply takeoff for foundations).
- Creation of “tender forms”.
- Compile tender drawings.
- Create/modify project specific scopes of work.
- Management of tender pricing process.
- Send tender packages.
- Resolve technical questions and clarify scope of work for trades; provide additional information, as required.
- Follow up to ensure pricing is turned around in a timely manner.
- Detailed evaluation of quotes to ensure pricing is “apples to apples”.
- Detailed review of quotes to ensure that pricing includes everything required in the scope of work.
- Negotiate with trades to ensure we’re getting the best possible pricing.
- Creation of a tender analysis, recommending the lowest qualified trade, for the review/approval by the Estimating Manager and VP of Construction.
- Contract Management (Contract compilation, administration, scanning/saving contract documents and distribution of final contracts to applicable trades).
- Assist the Estimating Manager with analyzing historical data to create budgets for future projects.
- May include other special projects as assigned by the Senior Estimating Manager.
Please note that the Logel Homes offices will be relocating to the Mount Royal Area in Fall 2024
