MINIMUM FORMAL EDUCATION/TRAINING:
- A University Bachelor's degree required.
- A degree in the area of Agricultural and Food Sciences or in Life Sciences preferred.
- Knowledge of Agricultural and Food Sciences degree and diploma programs is considered an asset.
EXPERIENCE:
- At least one year of experience working directly with students.
- Familiarity with UM policies, procedures and regulations preferred.
- An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

- Must have excellent word processing, spreadsheet and data management skills using Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Adobe Acrobat, PowerPoint, MS Teams, Outlook.
- Ability to communicate effectively in one-on-one and group settings is required.
- Must be able to demonstrate empathy.
- Ability to work collaboratively with others as part of a team is required.
- Must be able to support students to build personal capacity.
- Must demonstrate sensitivity in working with students from diverse cultural and linguistic backgrounds and in working with students with disabilities.

- Ability to identify and implement appropriate crisis management and intervention responses is required.
- Must be able to maintain confidentiality that follows FIPPA and PHIA requirements.
- Satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and punctuality, is required.
- Serves as the primary contact for front-line advising.
- Counsels prospective students.
- Meets with current students on a case-by-case basis as needed throughout the year.
- Liaises with academic departments concerning special permissions and registrations.
- Processes a variety of transactions pertaining to permission and overrides for registration purposes and discusses the implications with students.
- Reviews and applies applicable transfer credit and advise on implications for future registration.
- Conducts program planning reviews for students prior to registration periods.
- Reviews program requirements and progress of students.
- Conducts eligibility checks of potential graduands and advises students on eligibility.
- Monitors student histories, tracks progress to identify errors and locate potential problem areas with an aim to solve these problems.
- Liaises with the Student Services Supervisor, Admissions Office and Registrar's Office regarding any related issues with student records.
- Assists with academic assessments, as directed.
- Reviews academic performance and discuss options for improvement or withdrawal; discuss remedial actions to correct deficiencies.
- Conducts and participates in presentations, workshops, and information sessions, as assigned.
- Maintain all records related to students.
- Compiles reports on student-related data as requested by the Student Services Supervisor.
- Assists in preparing various reports Including but not limited to graduand reports and Academic Assessments, as directed.
- Reviews and processes deferred Exam requests, Supplemental Exams, Letters of Permission, Change of Grade forms, eligibility to graduate confirmations and any other special requests submitted by the students, consulting with Student Services Supervisor, ADAP and School of Agriculture when required.
- Provides backup for front office reception in Student Services.
- Designs, updates or revises office forms and form letters.
- Serves as a faculty representative, when assigned to committees of the faculty or university.
- Assists with office projects and ad hoc tasks as needed or assigned.
- Other duties as assigned.
