Freight Brokerage/Lane Balancer/Customer Service

The freight brokerage/lanebalancer will solicit and negotiate freight, balancing in-bound and out-bound assets to effectively maximize revenue and capacity utilization. The Freight Broker will subcontract loads to other carriers and maintain a high level of customer service. Looking for the right person to grow our existing logistics division to the next level to play an instrumental role in developing our state of the art brokerage software to it's fullest potential.

Reports to Brokerage Team Leader

Responsibilities

  • Responsible to locate freight to balance lanes and reduce empty miles with revenue paid miles
  • Responsible to determine the most cost-effective loads while considering all operational information
  • Responsible to subcontract loads and ensure that subcontracted freight is moved in a timely manner
  • Ensure that gross profit margin on subcontracted freight meets minimum targets
  • Ensure that driver layover percentage is kept to a minimum in regions where 3rd party freight is predominant
  • Responsible to ensure data entry meets necessary standards
  • Works closely with dispatch, planners and CSR’s to deliver consistent, high-quality service
  • Follow all relevant legislation and company policies and procedures
  • To represent Trans-Frt McNamara in a professional and courteous manner
  • Perform any other assigned duties as required

Desired Skills and Experience

Minimum Qualifications and Skills Requirements

  • Education equivalent to completion of High School
  • Minimum of 3 to 4 years in related occupation
  • Experience with Load Link
  • A dynamic, assertive individual able to exercise his/her own initiative
  • Good keyboarding speed and the ability to use a computer and operate a variety of proprietary and recognized software solutions and applications
  • A demonstrated ability to market using the telephone
  • Strong geographical knowledge
  • Possesses well developed communication and demonstrable organizational skills
  • Analytical with strong problem solving and negotiating capabilities
  • Skilled in scheduling and booking loads
