Position Overview
Pathways to Recovery is launching a client-centered, residential treatment program that embraces a holistic approach to recovery. We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Addictions Counsellor to join our multidisciplinary team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing individual and group counselling, developing treatment plans, and supporting clients through their journey of recovery in a structured and therapeutic environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate individual counselling sessions, group sessions, and psychoeducational classes aligned with evidence-based practices.
- Conduct comprehensive bio-psycho-social assessments and develop individualized treatment and aftercare plans
- Support a roster of clients in the aftercare program
- Provide crisis intervention, emotional support, and motivational encouragement
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in compliance with regulatory and program standards
- Collaborate with social, medical, and support staff to ensure continuity of care
- Participate in case conferences, staff meetings, and ongoing training and development
- Educate clients on coping strategies, relapse prevention, emotional regulation, and wellness tools
- Support family involvement in recovery through education and communication (as appropriate)
- Promote a safe, respectful, and inclusive therapeutic community
Qualifications
- Degree or Diploma in Addiction Studies, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field
- Certification or registration with a recognized professional body (e.g., ICADC, CACCF or provincial equivalent)
- Minimum 2 years of experience working with individuals with substance use disorders, preferably in an inpatient or residential setting
- Strong understanding of substance use, co-occurring disorders, trauma-informed care, and recovery models
- Excellent communication, documentation, and interpersonal skills
- Proficient in using electronic health records and Microsoft Office SuiteClear vulnerable sector police check
Bonus
- Current CPR/First Aid, NVCI and ASIST Certifications
- Bilingual considered an asset (English/French)
