Project Manager, SSRP

Purpose:
Reporting to a Director on the Student System Renewal Program (SSRP) project, depending on the project stream being supported, the Project Manager (PM) provides guidance and coordination of projects under the umbrella of the larger SSRP project. The PM provides project management and analytical guidance in support of all phases of a project, including project planning and tracking, coordination, implementation, execution, control, and successful completion consistent with the organizational and business goals of the University.

Education:
University degree in Business, Computer Science, Engineering, or an equivalent of 4 years recent experience (defined as within the last five years) working at York University and performing the same or similar tasks. This education equivalency is in addition to the experiential requirements outlined below. PMP designation, or similar accreditation, is required. Alternative certifications, such as: PRINCE2, Certified Scrum Master (CSM), SAFe v5 (Scaled Agile), Lean/Kanban, PMI-ACP, are an asset.

Experience:
Three (3) years of current and related experience with a broad working knowledge of information technologies that provides a credible framework for the preparation and monitoring of IT- related projects.Current and applied knowledge in project management methodology, e.g., PMBOK, systems development lifecycle frameworks and quality assurance (such as systems and user acceptance testing techniques). Knowledge and understanding of ERP, CRM, e-business, open source, and custom applications is required.

Skills:
  • Proven IT project management skills such capability to create and manage project charters, critical paths and milestones, project research, project, and evaluation planning,
  • Proven organizational skills, and ability to monitoring and track budgets.
  • Ability to work under pressure of high volume and expectation, while meeting competing deadlines for multiple projects.
  • Strong service orientation coupled with the ability to recognize and assess the operational significance of issues/problems, control/mitigate risk(s) and set priorities accordingly.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong collaboration and team skills and the ability to cooperate with team members, project sponsors, other stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment, tact, and diplomacy.
  • Effective motivational and diplomatic skills appropriate to large and complex organizations.
  • Ability to effectively navigate a professional environment with appropriate acuity.
  • Ability to maintain high levels of confidentiality.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to deal calmly and effectively with people.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to deal effectively with a wide range of contacts and to write effective documents, proposals, and reports.
  • Proficient in MS Project, Word, and Excel
  • Ability and willingness to learn new systems, technologies and keep current on project management methods and tools.
