The Organization:
For over 40 years, Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada (BTFC) has been dedicated to supporting, educating, and empowering everyone affected by a brain tumour while funding research and advocating for better outcomes. Our vision is to find the cause of and a cure for brain tumours while improving the quality of life for those affected.
The Role:
We are seeking a casual Community Outreach & Program Coordinator to support our Programs & Services team in the Winnipeg region. This role is ideal for an outgoing, organized individual who is passionate about community engagement, relationship building, and improving access to support for individuals and families affected by a brain tumour.
Working closely with the Programs & Services team, you will help increase awareness of Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada's programs and services by building relationships with healthcare professionals and community organizations, promoting local programming, coordinating events, and connecting individuals with the supports and resources available to them.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build relationships with hospitals, cancer centers, healthcare professionals, and community organizations throughout the Winnipeg region.
- Promote Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada's support groups, educational programs, BrainWAVE pediatric programming, support line, and educational resources.
- Recruit participants for support groups, educational events, and community programs.
- Coordinate and host local support groups, BrainWAVE activities, and community events.
- Assist with planning event logistics, registrations, volunteer coordination, and participant communications.
- Distribute educational materials and resources to healthcare providers and community partners.
- Represent Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada at community events and outreach opportunities.
- Maintain accurate records of outreach activities, referrals, and program participation.
- Work collaboratively with the national Programs & Services team to identify opportunities to increase community awareness and engagement.
- Provide general administrative support for local Programs & Services initiatives as needed.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
- Experience or education in social services, community development, health sciences, recreation, communications, or a related field.
- Must be available to work evenings and weekends when necessary.
- Experience coordinating community programs, outreach initiatives, or events.
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and virtual meeting platforms.
- Experience working in a nonprofit or healthcare environment is considered an asset.
- Level 2 Criminal Record Check required.
Nice to Have:
- Experience working with volunteers.
- Knowledge of the Manitoba healthcare system and community support services.
- Experience facilitating groups or delivering community programming.
