The Links of Kent Golf Club and Event Centre is a premier golf and event venue in the
heart of Chatham, Ontario. Alongside our well maintained 27-hole course, we feature a
full-service restaurant open year-round, serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Our facility
also hosts a variety of special events across two event centers, including weddings,
celebrations of life, meetings, showers, golf tournaments, and private functions —
providing high-quality dining experiences for all occasions.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced, creative, and dedicated Chef to lead our kitchen team.
The role is ideal for a driven culinary professional who thrives in both a la carte dining
and small to large events.
As the Chef, you will oversee all kitchen operations, including menu development, food
preparation, staff supervision, and event catering. This role requires strong leadership,
excellent organizational skills, and a passion for delivering exceptional food and service
across both our daily restaurant operations and special events.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership and oversight of all kitchen operations, ensuring efficiency, consistency, and excellent service
- Lead all aspects of event catering, including weddings, tournaments, celebrations of life, and private functions, ensuring seamless execution
- Lead the day-to-day kitchen operations, focusing on delivering great food for regular restaurant service
- Prepare and cook menu items for daily restaurant service – breakfast, lunch and dinner
- Create and update seasonal menus, daily features, and special event menus
- Ensure consistency, presentation, and quality of all food served
- Manage kitchen staff — including hiring, scheduling, and training team members
- Maintain inventory and control food and labor costs within established budgets
- Ensure all health and safety, sanitation, and food handling standards are met
- Collaborate with management and event coordinators to plan and execute functions successfully
- Lead a positive, team-oriented, and professional kitchen culture
Qualifications
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in a supervisory or head chef role
- Red Seal certification or equivalent experience preferred
- Proven experience in catering and event-based food service
- Proven leadership experience managing a kitchen team in a high volume environment
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Highly organized with the ability to perform under pressure in a fast pace dining setting
- Knowledge of food safety standards, food cost control, inventory management, and kitchen operations
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Ability to reliably commute to venue
What We Offer:
- Competitive total compensation of $70,000 - $85,000 per year, inclusive of base salary, tip out, and bonus
