Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Residential Coordinator, the Part Time Support Worker will perform various tasks related to building maintenance, activity monitoring, program duties and general support to the residents.
Qualifications:
Education:
University Degree/College Diploma in the social science OR working towards completion of one
Language:
Fluency in English. Fluency in French will be considered an asset as well as other languages
Additional Requirements:
The Community Residential Facilities within the John Howard Society of Ottawa support male, federal offenders. Therefore, given the nature of the client group, all CRF Support Worker positions are identified as male-designated positions
Clear Criminal Reference Check required prior to employment
Able to pass required Government security clearance (Reliable Status)
Regular access to a vehicle is an asset

Program Level Responsibilities:
Ensure a comprehensive understanding of CRF Operations Manual
Understand the role/responsibilities of a Residential Coordinator, Clinical Supervisor and Case Management Team and how they interrelate
Promote residents successfully resolving conflict after hours while maintaining client and staff safety
To have a firm grasp in the procedural guidelines for determining when the CRF on-call worker would be required and appropriate
Attend supervision and team meetings as necessary
Other duties which may be identified by the Residential Coordinator or Caseworkers. This can include but is not limited to:
Escorting residents within the community for professional appointments and basic necessities; groceries, hygiene, shopping
Conduct Urinalysis Testing when required
Maintenance/Cleaning Responsibilities:
Complete tasks in accordance with posted cleaning schedule
Assist in keeping all common areas within the residence clean, including hallways, stairwells, laundry rooms, bathrooms and offices
Prepare apartments for occupancy
Cleaning after apartments have been vacated by existing residents, possible packing, labelling and storing resident’s belongings
Building/Activity Monitoring:
In accordance with established guidelines, it will be necessary to record information associated with the client(s) interactions, interactions with Police Officers, Parole Supervisors and National Duty Officer or with the Support Worker’s response to various situations
Monitor the building in accordance with the safety policy
