Senior Automation & Robotics Specialist
A leading automotive manufacturer is seeking a Senior Automation & Robotics Specialist to support and improve robotic welding, automation, PLC-controlled systems, and manufacturing processes within a high-volume production environment. This position plays a key role in ensuring equipment reliability, process efficiency, product quality, and successful program launches.
Key Responsibilities
Program, troubleshoot, and optimize robotic welding systems and automated manufacturing equipment.
Support and maintain robotic platforms including ABB, KUKA, Fanuc, or similar automation systems.
Troubleshoot PLC-controlled equipment and automated production systems.
Develop and implement welding best practices, setup instructions, weld parameters, and process standards.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, productivity, uptime, and waste reduction.
Support manufacturing engineering activities related to welding, automation, robotics, and process development.
Support sourcing, installation, commissioning, and startup of robotic welding cells, projection welding equipment, and automated manufacturing systems.
Analyze equipment performance and implement corrective actions to improve reliability and efficiency.
Assist with root cause investigations and implementation of corrective actions related to equipment and process issues.
Support new product launches and manufacturing process development activities.
Qualifications
Minimum 5 years of experience supporting robotics, automation, PLCs, and welding systems in an automotive manufacturing environment.
Diploma or Degree in Robotics, Automation, Manufacturing Engineering Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, Welding Engineering Technology, or a related field.
Strong knowledge of robotic welding systems and automation equipment.
Experience with ABB, KUKA, Fanuc, or similar robotic platforms.
Knowledge of PLC programming, troubleshooting, and controls systems.
Experience with projection welding, resistance welding, and robotic welding processes.
Experience supporting automated manufacturing and assembly equipment.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience supporting automated welding cells and robotic integration projects.
Experience with Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.
Experience supporting new equipment launches and automation projects.
Familiarity with Quality automotive quality requirements.
