Weekend In-Person English Teacher/Tutor – Grades 7–12
R&M Learning Centre is looking for an experienced English teacher or tutor to teach students in Grades 7–12.
This is an in-person position at 479 Dundas St W in downtown Toronto. Preference will be given to applicants who live nearby or have a short and reliable commute to our location.

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $25–$30 per hour, based on teaching experience, qualifications, and demonstrated ability
Responsibilities
- Teach English reading, writing, grammar, and vocabulary to students in Grades 7–12
- Help students with essay writing, literary analysis, reading comprehension, school assignments, and exam preparation
- Assess each student’s current level, strengths, and areas for improvement
- Independently prepare lessons and teaching materials based on the student’s grade level and learning needs
- Review and correct student writing and provide clear, constructive feedback
- Assign homework when appropriate
- Monitor student progress and communicate relevant concerns or updates to the learning centre
- Occasionally teach younger students in reading, writing, and grammar when needed
Qualifications
- Previous experience teaching or tutoring English
- Experience with Grade 9–12 English is strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of grammar, essay structure, literary analysis, reading comprehension, and academic writing
- Familiarity with the Ontario English curriculum is preferred
- Ability to independently plan and teach lessons
- Strong written and spoken English
- Reliable, professional, patient, and comfortable working with students
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Education, Humanities, or a related field is preferred
- OCT certification or current Canadian school teaching experience is an asset but is not required
Applicants without formal teaching certification are welcome to apply if they have strong English skills and relevant tutoring or teaching experience.

Teaching hours depend on student enrolment and confirmed class schedules. A minimum number of students, classes, or weekly teaching hours is not guaranteed.
