Islamic Academy is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Educational
Assistant (EA)
to join our Secondary Division. As a growing pre-kindergarten
to Grade 12 school, EIA offers a supportive and collaborative environment where
staff play a vital role in supporting student achievement and well-being.
The successful
candidate will provide instructional and behavioral support to junior high
and/or high school students under the direction of the classroom teacher. This
role includes working one-on-one or in small groups to support students in
achieving their academic, social, and personal goals through individualized
programming and team collaboration.
Key
Responsibilities
- Provide one-on-one and small group support to
students based on individualized learning plans
- Assist students in developing academic skills,
organization, and independence
- Support student behavior using positive and
proactive strategies
- Collaborate with classroom teachers and support
staff to implement instructional plans
- Assist with classroom preparation, organization,
and resource development
- Support students during classes, exams,
transitions, and non-instructional times
- Communicate effectively with teachers and staff
regarding student progress and needs
- Promote a safe, inclusive, and respectful learning
environment
Qualifications,
Education & Experience
- Educational Assistant Certificate or related
post-secondary education is an asset
- Minimum of one (1) year of related experience
working with adolescents or students with diverse learning needs
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) training is
an asset
- Additional coursework related to special education
or supporting students with diverse needs is an asset
