Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority – Yellowknife Region (NTHSSA) is one of eight health and social services authorities established by the Department of Health and Social Services in the Government of the Northwest Territories.
NTHSSA – Yellowknife Region delivers and administers Population Health, Primary Health Care and Social Services programs in the communities of Dettah, Fort Resolution, Lutselk’e, Ndilo and Yellowknife.

The Comptroller for the Yellowknife Region is responsible for overseeing all financial operations for the Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority (NTHSSA) in the region. This role ensures that financial activities comply with applicable laws, regulations, policies, procedures, and accounting standards.
The Comptroller leads financial planning, budgeting, accounting, financial reporting, CRA compliance, physician billing, and administrative support services. Key responsibilities include contributing to strategic planning, developing and monitoring budgets, overseeing third-party funding and contribution agreements, and supporting service providers in various communities.
The Comptroller works closely with the NTHSSA Finance team, Yellowknife management and staff, and the Financial Management Officer assigned to the region. The position plays a key role in maintaining strong financial stewardship and ensuring compliance with NTHSSA values, government legislation, accounting standards, collective agreements, and other relevant policies and procedures.
Typically, the above qualifications would be attained by: A recognized professional accounting designation (CPA) and three (3) years of relevant experience.
EQUIVALENCIES:
¿ Master¿s in Accounting, Business Administration with concentration in Accounting, or Commerce with three (3) years of relevant experience.
¿ Bachelor¿s Degree in Accounting, Business Administration with concentration in Accounting, or Commerce with five (5) years of relevant experience.
¿ Relevant experience may include but not limited to:
- Responsibility for Organization-Wide Budgeting and Variance Reporting;
- Financial Operations related to expenditure and revenue management;
- Accounts Payable Activities and Visa one management activities;
- Year end financial reporting and financial statements audit support;
- Revenue Billing and collections;
- Bank reconciliations preparation.
