Plains Midstream has an immediate opening for Supervisor NGL Assets, HSE Ops. This position will be responsible for the enhancement and implementation of our operational health, safety, and environmental management systems, and will engage at the operational, district and corporate levels. Approximately 80% of the time will be spent visiting our field locations.
The successful candidate will report to the Senior Manager HSE and will have immediate, safety, environmental and security program related responsibilities for the NGL assets primarily from our three main fractionation facilities in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, Empress, Alberta and Sarnia, Ontario. Primary tasks include ensuring HSE Compliance for these assets, reporting spills to proper regulatory authority, supporting the reporting and investigation of incidents, injuries, and releases to management. This individual must establish and maintain effective working relationships with managers, supervisors, and employees.
Responsibilities:
- Champion Plains’ health and safety programs and initiatives;

Lead a team of health, safety and environmental advisors based across locations in the Canadian Crude areas

Contribute to Canadian HSE budget as required;

Coordinate activities and communications to promote a strong safety culture;

Report spills to the proper regulatory agencies;
-
Create positive working relationships with area leadership team;

Coach and mentor field employees and contractors on Plain’s policies and procedures;

Ensure that management, employees and contractors continue to be responsible and accountable for safety;
-
Provide all required reporting as required to HSE Senior Manager such as weekly, monthly and quarterly reports;

Conduct internal environmental and safety related compliance audits and assurance activities;
-
Conduct or oversee incident investigations for company employees and contractors;
-
Ability to conduct industrial hygiene monitoring for noise, benzene, lead, etc.;

Work with Security Director to implement security plan;

Maintain environmental and safety regulatory files;
-
Review and approve MOC’s for responsible area/facilities;

Assist with other regulatory compliance tasks as needed;

Complete quarterly and yearly reports to Regulatory Agencies (OHS, CCOHS)
Qualifications:

Accredited Bachelors or master’s degree in Safety, Environmental Science, Environmental Management or a related technical discipline, or 10+ years field related experience; and

A strong working knowledge of OHS, AER, CER and CSA Standards as they pertain to the commercial transportation industry is preferred;

Familiarity with Maximo Asset Management software preferred; and

This position requires the candidate to be proficient in written and verbal communications skills, have strong interpersonal skills and to be adept in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).

Must be detail and task-oriented with the ability to work independently but also assist team members to accomplish shared goals.

Overnight travel is expected and this individual must be available for any emergency response activities.
