Kerrwil’s Boating division is seeking a Jr. Associate Editor. The ideal successful candidate is enthusiastic about the recreational boating industry in Canada and writing content about boating. You will work in a dynamic environment offering great company benefits, hybrid workplace and a positive and passionate Team.
Key Responsibility:
· Working with our Team of Marine Editors and Journalists, the successful candidate will assist in planning the editorial schedule. Management & maintenance of the editorial schedule for 6 issues of Canadian Boating/year is a key role. The candidate will laisse with In-House Writers, Freelancers and Creative Designers to schedule and confirm article assignments, organize media files and ensure editorial deadlines are met.
Other responsibilities include:
· Attending industry events and boat shows to assist with various tasks as well as gather content information for upcoming editorial. Some weekends are required.
· Visiting on-sight boating industry partner locations to assist the Managing Editor with boat and product reviews to be later written into articles.
· Consolidating information and writing short and long articles for our print and digital media platforms.
· Content editing and proofing.
· Creating current Social Media posts while attending various events.
· Uploading article content to website.
· Assisting with PORTS Guide updates when required. www.portsbooks.com. (An experienced boater and editor could potentially be promoted to lead this role).
· Working with the Canadian Boating Team to set/reach common goals and maintain a positive, cohesive and efficient work environment both remotely and in-office.
· Further duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Experience Required:
· Experience and understanding of Canadian Press writing and editing guides.
· Further education/experience in journalism, reporting, broadcasting, photography, videography, business, marketing, live production is an asset.
· Min. completion of post-secondary diploma or higher.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· An understanding of Microsoft Office including Teams is essential. Excel and Outlook for data management and organization are important.
· Experience with website maintenance (management/uploading and maintaining articles), online publishing & Customer Relationship Management Programs is an asset.
· Driver's License and Pleasure Craft Operators Card (boat license) are required.

Location:
Office is located at 538 Elizabeth Street, Midland Ontario. The successful applicant will be expected to be in the office 2-3 days per week, attend strategic planning sessions as needed, and be prepared to represent Canadian Boating at industry events throughout the year.
