IT Manager (Full-Time, On-Site)
Company: AMC Insurance Services Ltd. Location: Surrey, BC (Head Office) — Occasional travel to our 12 branch locations required. Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent Compensation: $75,000 – $95,000 CAD annually + Benefits
About AMC Insurance
AMC Insurance Services Ltd. is one of British Columbia's leading independent insurance brokerages. With roots stretching back to the 1920s and a network of 12 offices across BC, we serve thousands of clients across Home, Auto (ICBC & Private), Commercial, Life, Travel, Marine, and Farm insurance lines. We are currently in an exciting phase of expansion across Western and Central Canada, and we need a tech leader who can ensure our systems remain reliable, secure, and performant.
The Opportunity
We are looking for a hands-on, full-stack IT Manager to take ownership of all technology operations. This is a unique "generalist" leadership role where you will own everything from end-user support to long-term IT strategy. You will be the single point of accountability for our technology ecosystem. This is an ideal fit for a problem-solver who prefers variety and wants to build and improve systems rather than just maintain the status quo.
Key Responsibilities
- Helpdesk & End-User Support: Provide Tier 1–3 support for ~100+ staff. Manage user provisioning, onboarding/offboarding, and hardware troubleshooting (workstations, printers, VoIP, mobile devices).
- Infrastructure Management: Monitor and manage LAN/WAN, firewalls, VPNs, and switches across 12 branch locations.
- Systems Administration: Lead our Microsoft 365/Azure AD environment and support our broker management system (Applied Epic).
- Cybersecurity & Compliance: Take charge of our security posture, including endpoint protection, MFA enforcement, patch management, and ensuring compliance with PIPEDA/BC PIPA and insurance industry standards.
- Vendor & Asset Management: Manage relationships with ISPs, software vendors, and hardware suppliers; maintain a full inventory of IT assets.
- Strategic Projects: Lead the IT setup for new branch openings and identify opportunities to automate manual workflows to boost broker productivity.
What You Bring
- Experience: 3–5+ years of progressive IT experience, with at least 2 years in a "sole IT" or small-team lead capacity.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong hands-on knowledge of Microsoft 365, Azure AD, Windows Server/Active Directory, Networking (TCP/IP, VLANs, Firewalls), and endpoint security.
- Soft Skills: An ownership mindset—you see problems through to resolution. You possess excellent communication skills and the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical staff with patience and professionalism.
- Requirements: Valid BC driver’s license and reliable vehicle (for branch site visits).
- Credentials: Post-secondary education in IT/Computer Science or equivalent experience. A successful criminal background check is required for this role.
Why You’ll Love Working Here
- Impact: You will be the primary authority on IT, with the opportunity to build and scale systems as we grow.
- Stability: Join a company with 100+ years of heritage and a clear roadmap for national expansion.
- Total Rewards: Competitive salary, extended health and dental benefits, paid vacation/sick leave, and employee insurance discounts.
- Professional Growth: A dedicated development budget for certifications and training, plus the opportunity to eventually build out your own IT team.
- Convenience: Head office based in Surrey with free parking.
