Assistant Program Supervisor (Part-time)
Make a difference in your community by joining our before and after-school program team! As a HIGH FIVE® Accredited organization, The Wright Spot provides quality, inclusive and engaging recreational programs that support children and families in the Leslieville and Beach areas.
We are currently seeking an Assistant Program Supervisor at our Bowmore Public School Location. The Assistant Program Supervisor reports directly to the Program Supervisor(s) and assists with programming, administrative functions and staff management to ensure the quality of our before and after-school recreation programs for children ages 4 to 10 years old. RECE, OCT or CYW certification is an asset, but not a requirement. Successful candidates will have previous experience working with children and creating or leading recreational programs rooted in play and inquiry. Strong administrative skills are mandatory and team management skills are an asset.
Job Type: Part-time
Hours/Days: Between 25 to 30 hours per week on average, must be available between 7:20am and 9:20am and 3:00pm and 6:00pm, Monday to Friday, flexible hours outside of mandatory shifts

Salary: Competitive, based on experience
About the Role:
Aids the Program Supervisor to ensure that overall program design and delivery, parent communications, staff training and management and program evaluations are all supportive of HIGH FIVE® Principles.
Ensures that all programming reflects the HIGH FIVE® Principles of Healthy Child Development and the HIGH FIVE® Design Guidelines.
Assists with scheduling and monitoring the HIGH FIVE® QUEST 2 assessments to ensure that they are completed and submitted on a monthly basis.
Builds warm, supportive relationships with children and families to ensure a safe, engaging environment.
Prepares agendas and takes meeting minutes within Supervisor led meetings.
Provides ongoing direction and guidance to program staff; creates and updates staff schedules.
Assists the Supervisor with purchasing as needed and maintains an inventory system.
Main point person for Lillio, our Childcare Management Application.
Other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications:
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing
Adept at administrative functions; knowledge of Childcare Management Software including Lillio is an asset
Understanding of child development principles and evidence of a caring, inclusive attitude toward children
Experience supervising the overall program design, delivery and facilitation of children’s recreational programs and administering quality assessment tools is an asset
Ability to manage staff and parent interactions, including addressing serious incidents
Ability to lift/carry items (weighing up to 20 kgs)
Valid Ontario G Driver's License and access to a reliable vehicle is an asset
Certifications & Documentation
Post-secondary education or enrolment in one or more of the following is an asset: Early Childhood Education, Ontario College of Teachers, Child and Youth Care Worker.
Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Standard First Aid/CPR-C Certification including infant and child cardiopulmonary resuscitation as recognized by WSIB (ongoing re-certification is required as a condition of continued employment).
Certification in Parks and Recreation Ontario's HIGH FIVE® Principles of Healthy Child Development (PHCD) prior to job start or be willing to complete training as soon as possible (within the first three months of employment).
Valid Food Handler Certificate.
Clear Vulnerable Sector (VS) Check.
Signed disclosure statement regarding any prior convictions.
Hiring Process
Candidates must participate in a short phone screening and one to two in-person interviews to assess their commitment to child well-being, leadership capacity and familiarity with HIGH FIVE® Principles.
Selected candidates must complete a paid trial shift observed by a senior staff member to demonstrate their leadership in a program setting with children.
Selected candidates must provide 3 references that provide evidence that the candidate has demonstrated the ability to provide quality leadership.
