ABOUT THE MEDIA FIRM.
The Media Firm. is a Toronto-based content marketing agency specializing in high-performing content for premium brands across the Greater Toronto Area: real estate professionals, builders, and design-focused brands.
In addition to client work, we operate a growing real estate media platform with strong audience reach (100k+ followers) across Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube. This platform runs its own content pipeline (submissions, property content, brand partnerships) on the same operational standard we bring to every client account.
ROLE OVERVIEW
We are looking for a videographer who leads with creative direction, not just a camera. This role spans real estate and construction shoots, automotive and luxury lifestyle content, personal branding, cinematic trailers, vlog-style series, and podcast production. You will move across formats and environments, and you are expected to own the visual outcome from concept to delivery.
Some of what we are building here is self-funded original content with genuine publishing potential and audience reach behind it. The base rate reflects where we are starting. The upside for someone who invests creatively in the vision alongside us is real. This is not a role for someone clocking hours. It is a role for someone who sees what we are building and wants their fingerprints on it from the beginning.
This starts part-time. For the right person who steps into creative leadership and helps define the visual identity of this company, the path to full-time moves fast.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Shoot and edit high-quality video and photo content across real estate, construction, automotive, luxury lifestyle, and personal branding shoots in the GTA
- Plan and execute cinematic trailers, podcast recordings, vlog-style original series, and social-first content from brief to final cut
- Handle all post-production: color grading, sound design, transitions, music selection, and export optimization for each platform
- Identify trending content formats and actively bring references, replication concepts, and creative ideas to each project
- Build a complete creative production plan for each shoot or campaign, including angles, equipment setup, mood board, and music direction
- Adapt quickly across shoot scenarios: properties, construction sites, automotive environments, events, studio setups, and on-the-go lifestyle coverage
- Use AI tools to support your workflow: music research, color reference, caption generation, script drafting, and content organization
- Manage your own schedule, shoot prep, and file delivery without needing to be chased
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- 2+ years of professional videography and photography experience with a portfolio that spans real estate, lifestyle, or automotive content
- Own and operate a Sony 4K/60fps camera (A7S III, FX30, FX3 or equivalent)
- Full lens kit: wide-angle (10mm to 16-35mm range), prime (50mm range), and zoom (24-70mm range)
- Own and operate a gimbal and drone
- MacBook Pro capable of handling 4K editing, color grading, and delivery
- Experienced in post-production: color grading, sound design, transitions, and platform-specific formatting
- Comfortable directing podcast setups and producing video podcast content end to end
- Strong music instinct: you know how to pick a track that fits the brand and actively follow what is trending
- Experienced in cinematic content production, including automotive and luxury lifestyle videography
- Familiar with personal branding and vlog-style content creation, not just structured property shoots
- Uses AI tools actively in your workflow. You do not need to be a developer, but you should be comfortable using tools like Claude or ChatGPT to move faster and produce better work
- Organized and self-directed. You manage your own timeline, flag issues early, and do not wait to be told what comes next
- Solution-oriented, coachable, and open to refinement while bringing your own creative perspective to every shoot
BONUS POINTS
- iPhone 16 Pro/Pro Max or 17 Pro/Pro Max with a compatible gimbal for mobile-first and behind-the-scenes content
- Experience shooting luxury automotive content: exotics, supercars, detail-level cinematic work
- Comfortable with self-directed vlog-style shooting
- Experience replicating trending formats across Instagram Reels, TikTok, and YouTube Shorts
COMPENSATION
$20-40/hr commensurate with experience. This is a part-time engagement to start, with volume increasing as the relationship builds. Some projects here are self-funded original series with real distribution potential behind them. For the right person who invests creatively alongside us, there is a longer conversation about what continued involvement and upside looks like as those projects grow. If you are looking for a quick freelance engagement, this is not it. If you want to be part of building something you can point to, let us talk.
