Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and organized Medical Office Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will have experience in medical and dental office settings, with strong administrative skills and a focus on providing excellent patient service. This role involves managing front desk operations, handling electronic medical records, and supporting clinical staff to ensure smooth daily operations. Prior experience with office management systems such as Epic, Med Access, and proficiency in medical terminology are highly valued. The position offers an engaging work environment where attention to detail and professionalism are essential.
Duties
- Greet patients and visitors professionally at the front desk, ensuring a welcoming environment
- Manage multi-line phone systems to schedule appointments, answer inquiries, and relay messages accurately
- Maintain and update electronic medical records using systems such as Epic and Med Access
- Verify patient insurance information and process billing or payments as needed
- Assist with patient check-in and check-out procedures, including collecting necessary documentation
- Coordinate appointment scheduling for medical services
- Support clinical staff by preparing patient charts and ensuring all necessary documentation is complete
- Handle administrative tasks such as filing, faxing, scanning, and managing office supplies
- Ensure compliance with healthcare privacy regulations and maintain confidentiality of patient information
Qualifications
- Prior experience as a Medical Office Assistant in a healthcare setting is preferred
- Proficiency in electronic medical records systems such as Epic and Med Access is highly desirable
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and office procedures
- Experience working with multi-line phone systems and front desk operations
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail
- Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
- Previous experience in office management or administrative roles within healthcare is advantageous
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional certification in healthcare administration is a plus
