If you share our values and would like to work with skilled professionals, Armour is presently seeking a Payroll and Benefits Specialist to join our growing team from our downtown Halifax location.
Reporting to the Payroll Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for processing and maintaining the complete payroll cycle as well as administering all aspects of employee benefits as defined under the group’s benefit plan.
As the Payroll and Benefits Specialist, you will:
- Establish, maintain and update payroll information for new and existing employees by reviewing and approving changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, and job titles, and department/ division transfers.
- Collaborating with accounting and human resources to ensure accuracy of data.
- Processing multiple payrolls using Ceridian Dayforce software, including hourly, salaried, and unionized for over all employees.
- Be a client-focused service provider by resolving issues and answering payroll-related questions in a timely manner.
- Administering employee/employer benefits plans including health, dental, insurance and RRSP contributions according to employment contracts and company policy and prepare monthly contribution payments.
- Preparing ROE’s as required, and T4’s at year end using Ceridian software.
- Entering/ posting payroll journal entries into accounting system.
- Review and reconcile remittances monthly.
- Administering and maintaining groups benefits plan, ensuring eligibility rules are appropriately applied. This includes professionally communicating details of the plans to parties entitles to the information.
What we’re looking for:
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar type of role.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail a must.
- Knowledge of Ceridian Dayforce or similar payroll software.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft Office products, specifically excel and word.
- Effective communication and relationship building skills.
- A commitment to confidentiality.
- Effective organizational and time management skills with a focus on achieving deadlines.
- Prior experience in the following industries is considered an asset: hospitality, construction, leasing, property management.
- PCP certification would be considered and asset.
