At Uptown Montessori, located in the heart of North York, we are dedicated to providing a nurturing, respectful, and stimulating Montessori environment for children to explore, grow, and thrive. We are currently seeking a passionate and experienced Certified Montessori PRE CASA and CASA Teacher to lead one of our Pre Casa or Casa classrooms and inspire the next generation of confident, capable learners.
Position Summary
The PRE CASA or CASA Montessori Teacher will be responsible for leading a Pre Casa or Casa classroom using authentic Montessori pedagogy. You will guide children through purposeful work, foster independence, and nurture each child's unique developmental path. You will also ensure compliance with the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA) and support the centre’s collaborative and child-focused culture.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all aspects of a Pre Casa or Casa Montessori classroom in alignment with Montessori principles and MACTE standards.
- Prepare, maintain, and enhance a well-ordered, stimulating Montessori environment.
- Deliver individualized and small group Montessori lessons and presentations.
- Observe and assess children’s development, maintain accurate records, and plan based on individual needs.
- Foster a calm, respectful, and inclusive classroom atmosphere that supports children’s social-emotional and cognitive growth.
- Collaborate closely with classroom assistants, RECEs, and the broader teaching team.
- Communicate regularly and respectfully with families regarding their child's progress.
- Complete biannual report cards for each child.
- Comply with Ontario's CCEYA regulations and Ministry of Education licensing requirements.
- Participate in ongoing professional development, reflective practice, open houses, and staff meetings.
Qualifications
- Montessori Diploma/Certification(required).
- Minimum of 1–2 years of experience in a Montessori environment (preferred).
- Familiarity with Ontario’s How Does Learning Happen?, ELECT, and other provincial frameworks.
- Strong understanding of child development and Montessori best practices.
- Current Standard First Aid & CPR Level C certification.
- Clear and current Vulnerable Sector Check (Police Record Check).
- Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE) designation is an asset but not required.
- Up-to-date immunization and medical requirements as per Ontario licensing regulations.
