Your Opportunity:
As the Human Resources Advisor, you will be responsible for providing proactive human resources consultation advice and services to Alberta Health Services management staff within an assigned client group. You will support clients by coordinating, advising, and providing direction on a variety of human resource functions and related operations to enable attraction and retention of a qualified and suitable workforce. In order to be effective in this role, you will have a proven track record of fostering and maintaining positive and collaborative relationships with AHS managers, HR networks and service centres, and Union representatives. You are adaptable and can work as effectively independently as you can in collaboration with others. You will interpret client needs, assess requirements and identify solutions to non-standard issues and requests including engagement of Human Resources specialists as required.
Description:
AHS consists of a unionized (in-scope) and non-union (exempt) employee workforce, where you will need to be familiar with processes for both employee groups. You have a clear understanding of employee and labour relations; performance management; ability management; grievance management; and interpretation of collective agreements. In addition, you will also provide consultation on talent management, job classification and compensation in addition to other related HR tasks, duties and responsibilities.

Required Qualifications:
A minimum of a post-secondary degree in human resources, business administration or related area. A minimum of 2 years’ experience in an HR advisor/consultant or generalist position. A demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal development. Equivalencies of education and experience may be considered.

Leadership skills, including demonstrated ability and comfort with decision making responsibilities, coaching and teaching, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others. Experience in managing projects of different scope, magnitude and significance.
Preferred Qualifications:
CHRP or other recognized designation. Previous experience in an organization of similar size and complexity. Previous experience in a healthcare environment.
