About the Role
Ever wanted to make something that ends up in the winner's circle? Centaur Ribbons is one of North America's leading makers of hand-crafted ribbons and rosettes. The name has been trusted by top organizations including the American Kennel Club (AKC) and Canadian Kennel Club (CKC) celebrated at equestrian, canine, and feline competitions across the continent.
We're looking for a hands-on, mechanically curious person to join our Printing team: the department where every order begins.
We're on a mission to recognize 1 billion people, pets, and organizations across the world. Every ribbon you print is a small but meaningful part of that.
Before You Apply
This is a morning shift position. You will be working from 06:00AM to 2:30PM. Please apply only if you are available to work with this schedule.
Starting wage is $18.25 per hour. Compensation increases with experience. We welcome both entry-level and experienced applicants; comprehensive training is provided.
This Is Where It All Starts
Before a single rosette gets assembled, someone has to get the print exactly right. That's you.
You'll work from production sheets to select ribbon colors and widths, cut streamers to length, and operate our Ludlow hot metal typesetting system, one of the few still in active production use in North America, to cast letter slugs and letterpress-print award text, logos, and club names onto ribbon.
There's real craft in this. Choosing the right font, sizing, and letter combination. Casting a clean slug. Running a test print on the heat press and checking that every character lands sharp and true. When it does, and when you've dialed in the best version, that feeling of satisfaction is earned.
You don't need to arrive knowing any of this. We will train you from the ground up. What we can't teach is curiosity — so if you're the kind of person who looks at a machine and wants to know how it works, you'll fit right in here. Over time, we want you to build real mechanical familiarity with the equipment you operate, understanding it well enough to make minor adjustments and catch small issues before they need to escalate.
You'll Thrive Here If You:
- Are comfortable operating industrial equipment and want to understand how it works, not just run it
- Like the idea of hands-on, technical work with a visible output
- Have an eye for detail. You will clean slugs, sharp prints, and catching an error on a production sheet before it becomes a problem
- Are methodical and consistent: production runs on repeatability
- Are punctual and reliable
- Have strong English literacy: you'll be reading and spell-checking production sheets daily
- Have a background in printing, machining, trades, or hands-on technical work - helpful, but not required. We'll train the right person!
Why Centaur?
Our ribbon division is a team of wonderfully talented, passionate women who take real pride in every rosette that leaves this building. There's a lot of laughter, a lot of skill, and a genuine love for the craft. We're part of the Coronation Recognition Group family, nearly 50 people strong.
There's also something worth saying about the schedule: you're in early, you finish early, and you've got most of your afternoon back. For the right person, that's a real quality of life perk.
If you're someone who finds satisfaction in mastering a machine, getting a print exactly right, and starting something that the rest of the team gets to finish, we'd love to meet you.
