Sauna Host (Part-Time)
Island Floating Sauna is looking for a friendly and reliable Sauna Host to join our small team at Coast Marina. This is a unique opportunity to work in a waterfront wellness setting — helping guests unwind and enjoy an authentic wood-fired sauna experience right on the ocean. We're looking for someone who takes pride in creating exceptional guest experiences, is comfortable working independently, and genuinely enjoys making people feel welcome.
What You'll Do
- Welcome guests warmly and set the tone for a relaxing, memorable experience
- Check guests in, verify waivers, and answer questions about the sauna experience
- Respond to phone calls, messages, and booking inquiries
- Safely build, manage, and maintain the wood-burning sauna fire
- Monitor guest safety during sauna sessions and cold plunges, and manage session timing
- Keep the sauna, change areas, and common spaces clean and organized
- Complete opening and closing procedures
What We're Looking For
- Reliable, self-motivated, and takes ownership of their responsibilities
- Warm, guest-focused, and calm under pressure
- Comfortable working independently and using sound judgment when needed
- At ease in a waterfront marine environment — the sauna is located on a floating dock and can experience movement from waves, tides, and passing boats; some duties, including firewood handling take place outdoors
- Able to perform physical tasks including carrying firewood and cleaning heavy-use surfaces
- Available to work evenings, weekends, and occasional weekdays
- Applicants must be 18 or older
An interest in wellness, sauna culture, hospitality, tourism, or recreation is a great fit for this role. Previous experience in customer service, hospitality, tourism, recreation, or wellness is an asset — but not required. Full training is provided.
Hours & Availability
This is a part-time position primarily covering Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, with occasional weekday shifts available. Most shifts are 5.5–7 hours, with a scheduled overlap between hosts for smooth handovers.
Typical hours range from approximately 12–10 hours per week, depending on season, bookings, and staff availability. Applicants must be available to work evenings and weekends.
Compensation
Starting wage: $20/hour Opportunities for wage increases based on performance, reliability, and experience.
What We Offer
- Free sauna sessions for yourself, plus 2 guest passes per month for friends or family
- A truly unique workplace — one of Campbell River's most distinctive waterfront locations
- Be part of a growing local wellness business from the early stages
- Flexible part-time scheduling
- A supportive, relaxed team environment
- The chance to create genuinely memorable experiences for locals and visitors every shift
