As we continue with our continuous growth strategy, we are seeking a Full Time Equipment Operator to join our Fort McMurray Project team and be an integral part of our future success. These projects are typically based out of our Suncor Base Plant & Fort Hills locations. This is a project-based position, will start as a 14 day on - 7 day off rotation schedule, but may change based on project needs. Accommodations may be provided. Key Responsibilities: The Heavy Equipment Operator must have the ability to work in a safe and cautious manner inside a live processing plant which contains high congestion and tight working conditions. They will be operating a 200 Series CAT (rubber tired) Excavator, 323 skid steer and Front End Loader with attachments: 4 cu. yard bucket, 8 ft. forks, 10 ft. jib. The HEO will be operating in live plant areas, safety requirements must be known and adhered to.
Common Tasks:
- Operate Loader, skid steer, and excavator to finish quality, in a safe and efficient manner
- Dig or excavate trenches to specified depth, width, and angle for installation
- Haul material to/from work locations
- Backfill and trim excess material
- Check equipment before use to ensure it is in a safe & proper working condition
- Instruct other crew members as required
- Occasional driving light-medium trucks
- Maintain the worksite in a clean and tidy condition
- Identify and Control possible hazards
- Perform other duties as assigned by the lead hand or site supervision
- Handling materials, mats, piping and valves. Hoisting and lifting experience
- Perform other duties as assigned by the lead hand or site supervision
Requirements:
- Min 3 years as an Equipment operator; preferred water and sewer/excavation and piping experience
- Oilsands or industrial experience an asset
- Ability to work accurately to required grades and specifications
- Must have proven ability to work in tight spots
- Mechanically inclined with strong organizational & problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Effective communication skills, written and verbal
- Ability to work outside in all types of weather
- Previous Suncor experience (asset)
