About the Role
We are seeking a motivated, organized, and proactive Equipment Sales Representative to support the growth of our equipment sales, with a primary focus on municipal, governmental, and public-sector customers.
This is a full-time, primarily office-based sales role operating out of our Woodbridge office. The successful candidate will be responsible for prospecting, developing customer relationships, supporting equipment sales opportunities, and assisting with the full sales process from initial outreach through quoting, follow-up, deal coordination, and participation in training, equipment delivery, and demonstrations when needed.
While the role is mainly office-based, some travel will be required for trade shows, customer visits, customer deliveries, equipment demonstrations, and other sales-related activities. Travel is expected to average approximately 10% to 15% per month, although some months may be lower and others may be closer to 25%, depending on business needs.
The main focus of this role will be municipal and governmental sales; however, the successful candidate may also assist with other customer segments or sales initiatives as directed by management.
Key Responsibilities
- Proactively identify and develop sales opportunities with municipalities, government agencies, public works departments, contractors, and related customers.
- Conduct outbound sales activity, including phone calls, emails, follow-ups, and customer relationship building.
- Support the full sales cycle, including lead generation, customer qualification, quoting, proposal preparation, follow-up, and closing support.
- Monitor municipal and government purchasing opportunities, tenders, bid platforms, and relevant public-sector sales channels.
- Maintain accurate customer information, activity records, opportunities, and sales pipelines in the company’s CRM or ERP system.
- Develop a strong understanding of the company’s equipment lines, product offerings, customer value proposition, and after-sales support.
- Coordinate with internal departments, including parts, service, logistics, administration, and finance, to support order fulfillment and customer satisfaction.
- Assist with preparing customer quotes, product information, sales packages, and follow-up materials.
- Represent the company professionally at trade shows, customer visits, equipment demonstrations, deliveries, and other sales-related events as required.
- Provide warm referrals and sales opportunities to other departments, including Parts, Service, and Rentals where applicable.
- Work closely with the Sales Manager to prioritize accounts, target customers, and sales strategies.
- Assist with other sales initiatives or customer segments as directed by management.
Qualifications
- Sales, customer service, equipment, construction, municipal, or industrial experience is considered an asset.
- Strong communication, follow-up, and relationship-building skills.
- Comfortable making outbound calls, sending sales emails, and following up with prospective customers.
- Organized and able to manage multiple leads, quotes, tasks, and customer follow-ups at the same time.
- Professional, self-motivated, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Comfortable learning technical product information and explaining equipment value to customers.
- Experience with CRM, ERP, or sales tracking systems is considered an asset.
- NetSuite CRM experience is preferred but not required.
- Knowledge of municipal procurement, public works, construction equipment, or road maintenance equipment is considered an asset.
- Valid Ontario driver’s license required.
- Must be able to travel as required for business needs.
