Overview
The Grader Operator plays a crucial role in our construction and road-building projects, responsible for operating a motor grader to create a smooth, level surface. This position is ideal for an individual with extensive experience in operating graders and a keen understanding of construction and grading processes. The Grader Operator ensures the precise and efficient preparation of surfaces, contributing significantly to the quality and success of our projects. We are seeking a meticulous and skilled operator dedicated to maintaining high standards of safety and performance.
Locations: Lacombe, Camrose, Smoky Lake, Drayton Valley, Fort Assiniboine, and Edmonton
Responsibilities
- Machine Operation: Safely and efficiently operate motor graders to grade and level surfaces for roads, airstrips, and other construction projects.
- Site Preparation: Prepare and maintain work areas by removing debris, leveling the ground, and creating a smooth surface according to project specifications.
- Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and minor repairs on graders to ensure optimal performance and prevent breakdowns. Report any mechanical issues promptly.
- Safety Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations, maintaining a safe work environment for yourself and others on the job site.
- Precision Work: Execute grading tasks with a high degree of accuracy, following engineering plans and project specifications to achieve the desired outcomes.
- Communication: Coordinate with site supervisors, other equipment operators, and construction personnel to ensure smooth and efficient project execution.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate records of work performed, including hours of operation, maintenance activities, and any issues encountered during operation.
Education and Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED: Essential educational requirement, demonstrating foundational skills in mathematics, reading, and writing.
- Technical Training: Completion of vocational training or certification in heavy equipment operation, particularly graders, is highly desirable.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of experience operating graders in a construction or road-building setting, with a proven track record of safety and efficiency.
