The Clinical Informatics Lead (CIL) works directly with operational staff, all levels of leadership and physicians to utilize information technology according to standardized and best practice guidelines, policy and procedures. The CIL must have an expert level understanding of how information technology integrates with clinical practice across the entire continuum of mental health and addiction (MHA services). The CIL, as a member of the Clinical Informatics team, is responsible for leading the understanding, integration, application, development and optimization of information technology across MHA services. They provide provincial influence for the entirety of Recovery Alberta, including mental health and addition and provincial correctional health services. This posting may be used to fill 2 vacancies.
The CIL provides leadership and expertise in the development, deployment, and adoption of clinical information systems (CIS) across all Recovery Alberta clinical service areas. The CIL performs tasks in the following five areas: 1. Facilitate the optimal use of current and future CIS. 2. Acquire and maintain a thorough understanding of all operational workflows, documentation standards, policy requirements, and patient movement in, across, and out of the Recovery Alberta continuum of care. 3. Work directly with staff and physicians to utilize the CIS in their day-to-day workflows, which includes troubleshooting problems and escalating issues through IT and other Health Shared Services partners. 4. Advocate for Recovery Alberta patients and staff to ensure access to appropriate, accurate, safe, and efficient CIS workflows. 5. Collaborating with stakeholders (e.g., local AMH, provincial AMH, external partners) to design and optimize the CIS. The CIL must develop strong working relationships with both internal and external partners to enable the CIS to support excellence in clinical practice and support quality patient outcomes. The CIL combines knowledge of CIS related systems and an in-depth knowledge of AMH clinical operations to enable integration and optimization of the features of CIS applications into clinical workflows at the point of care. The CIL provides timely troubleshooting within assigned portfolios/pillars as well as engages in strategic training to introduce new or existing CIS features to non and clinical staff and physicians.

Required Qualifications:
Minimum of a bachelor's degree is required in the social or behavioural sciences, or a health-related field with a strong focus on health informatics. Minimum of 5 years in healthcare experience in an organization of significant size, complexity and diversity. Experience using or managing a clinical information system. A demonstrated clear pattern of professional and personal growth. Experience in initiating and fostering positive relationships and partnerships with key internal and external stakeholders (Experience working with various levels of leadership, physicians, and external stakeholders. Significant experience in complex problem solving, negotiation, concerns/conflict resolution and investigation/negotiation. Ability to think systematically and critically. Demonstrated knowledge of relevant health information standards, data interrelationships and dependencies among various health information systems. Demonstrated excellent communication and presentation skills. Experience and expertise in facilitating presentations to convey information or transfer knowledge. Presentations are often to persuade or influence. Experience with teaching adult learners. Experience in project management and change management.

Preferred Qualifications:
A master's degree in a behavioural science or health-related field with a focus on health informatics. Experience in providing direct patient care, preferably within the MHA setting. Epic applications knowledge and experience strongly desired. Certificates for Epic software certification and experience strongly desired. Certification in project management and or change management.
