OVERVIEW OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Income Auditor is responsible for safeguarding the integrity of all revenue streams within a luxury hotel environment. This role ensures the accuracy, completeness, and compliance of daily revenue transactions through detailed audit procedures, while upholding the highest standards of financial control expected in a luxury hospitality setting. The Income Auditor partners closely with Rooms, Food & Beverage, and other operating departments to ensure revenue is properly recorded, reported, and aligned with brand and ownership expectations.
KEY RESPONSABILITIES
Daily Revenue Audit & Reconciliation
- Audit all daily revenue postings across Rooms, Food & Beverage, Spa, and other ancillary outlets
- Verify and reconcile all payment types (cash, credit cards, city ledger, and digital methods)
- Ensure all systems (PMS, POS) fully interface to the general ledger
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies in a timely and professional manner
Luxury Service & Operational Alignment
- Collaborate with operational leaders to ensure revenue capture aligns with luxury service standards
- Maintain deep understanding of rate structures, packages, and promotional offerings
- Identify revenue leakage risks and recommend improvements proactively
Financial Controls & Compliance
- Ensure strict adherence to internal controls and brand financial standards
- Review coding and classification of revenue and expenses in line with Uniform System of Accounts
- Safeguard hotel assets and ensure compliance with cash handling procedures
Reporting & Insights
- Prepare and distribute daily revenue and exception reports to leadership
- Provide analysis and commentary on variances, trends, and unusual transactions
- Support decision-making with accurate and timely financial data
Month-End Close Support
- Prepare revenue-related accruals, including gratuities and cost of sales
- Assist with month-end reconciliation and closing processes
- Provide supporting documentation and audit schedules for leadership review
Data Integrity & Documentation
- Maintain well-organized, audit-ready documentation and records
- Ensure confidentiality of financial and guest data at all times
- Maintain tax documentation and ensure proper reporting compliance
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Front Office, Reservations, Sales, and Food & Beverage teams
- Foster a culture of accountability, precision, and continuous improvement
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
- Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline preferred
- 2+ years of accounting or income audit experience, ideally within luxury hospitality
Technical Skills
- Advanced Excel skills and financial systems proficiency
- Experience with Opera, Micros, or similar hotel systems preferred
